Really well done! Equilibrium is such a deep movie, which I was surprised by; we look to be entertained, but this movie asks the viewer to think about the power of literature, art, feelings, and the broader theme seemed also to explore the idea that religion is the opiate of the masses since the "Clerics" control everybody and everything. I'm so glad you have this blog out there, so that people can benefit from your scholarship!

Very nice post. If it's not too gauche for me to quote myself, I once wrote, "Credulity is much easier to sustain when we've been taught that facts are things to be memorized and repeated, rather than sought out and discovered."

The key to understanding ourselves is at least in part understanding our history, and we do that largely through our literature. The trick is to view it all through the critical eye of reason, and with the knowledge that true data filtered through good critical thinking is the path to wisdom.
